As part of our desire to encourage the next generation of fashion and accessories designers, we teamed up with the fashion design department at Vizzo Haifa, to jointly launch the Marrakesh bag.
As part of a constant search for new materials and new techniques,
We found a factory in Mizrah that manufactures hand woven plastic baskets from recycled plastic.
We used this base as a raw material for the design of a new basket bag, which combines the innovative and recycled material, together with the traditional, age-old material: leather.
In a manual two-way technique, leather strips are caught in the recycled plastic baskets.
The talented students of the School of Design at the University of Haifa were hosted in our studio and factory, and underwent a workshop and professional enrichment, where they learned about Daniela Lehbi's unique production processes, as well as techniques for working with different leathers and materials.
At the end of the workshop, the students went to our 9 stores around the country, to illustrate in real time the weaving of the Marrakesh bag in the store, and to allow the customers of the brand to choose their favorite combination of colors and textures, thus creating a bag with a personal design.
Uri Lehbi, son of Daniela Lehbi (deceased, founder and designer of the brand) continues her way in the design and management of the brand, but in many aspects, including the root ideology of supporting young talents, design students from a variety of fields, and collaborations with academic design institutions.
